Tucked at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in North Lake Tahoe California, just steps away from the legendary ski lifts of Squaw Valley USA, PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn Lake Tahoe was built as the home for the 1960 Winter Olympic delegation. Completely renovated in 1995, our Lake Tahoe tradition of entertaining guests as dignitaries remains standard even today at our Lake Tahoe resort.

Our Lake Tahoe mountain escape is a comfortable and casually elegant year-round destination offering exceptional service along with a home-away-from-home experience. With slope-side access and some of the area’s best hiking, PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn Lake Tahoe, on Lake Tahoe’s north shore, is the answer to all your recreational needs. Escape to Lake Tahoe.

The VIII Winter Olympic Games, held in Squaw Valley in 1960, marked many notable events and achievements:
  • The Squaw Valley Lake Tahoe 1960 Winter Olympics were the first Games held in the Western United States and the first to be televised.
  • The Lake Tahoe's Squaw Valley Olympic Village Inn was built to house more than 750 athletes; it allowed all athletes to be housed under one roof for the first and only time in modern Olympic history.
  • Computers were used to tabulate results for the first time. The glass-walled IBM processor drew almost as many Lake Tahoe observers as the competitions.
